LTTP Alpha Protocol

Post by t0mby »

Tried to find a thread on this but searches bought up Finished Games and Backlog threads only.

Swapped Split>Second for this July last year but ended up lending it out and only got it back on Friday and started it then. Been playing it in between Resistance 3 and I gotta say, despite the games problems, the story is really well done so far. Watched a dev panel from PAX last year (Or was it the year before) and I love how they focused on that there is no wrong way to play the game, just choices. The way everything branches is fantastic and although I'm only up to the second country in the story I really love the twist the game has taken and how the story is delivered.

Man, this game cries for Splinter Cell quality gameplay though, if it had that this would definitely be contender for Game of the Generation. I can understand why it took 4 years to produce when you see the progress tree for conversations and the way choices can change outcomes later on based on how you treat certain characters.

I'll come back to this thread later when I've put more time into it.

I'll come back to it for you. Had this game on my Pilon list. Very glad to have finally got around to it. What a fun game. Actual gameplay can be rough and AI is crap but the character progression, settings, dialogue and character models more than make up for it. The sound should get a mention too. It's a fun 'operative' vibe when you sneak around where possible but upon tripping an alarm (easy with the crappy computer hacking game) you can just whip out an assault rifle and make a lot of noise. Respect also for slaving over a tonne of content you won't see on one play-through however if it wasn't there you wouldn't have the sense that player choices actually do drive the story. Really enjoying it so far.

I actually stopped playing it as I hit a bit of a brick wall on the 360 at the boss bit on the boat (some chiq). I bought it again though for PS3 when I came to Aussie and finished it last June. Managed to woo a couple of women, think one died as well? Little bit hazy now but I stand by my original post, the branching story is head and shoulders above anything else I have seen on console. Game is janky as fuck though.

p. sure I made a thread spouting how great this game was. Some of the bosses are utterly trivial if you have certain builds. It's so brilliant and broken at the same time, a true classic

pepp: please tell me you how much you enjoyed Steve Heck

Agree about the bosses. I ended up YouTube'n one of them as I was sparse on ammo (the disco floor one against the coke fiend).

Finished it just now. Enjoyed Heck (he was my handler for the final mission). :)

Yep it's broken but you can't go past the story and plot options. The boss battles are horrible. A few turns of weathering a storm until you work out which of your abilities is insanely overpowered and able to knock the boss over in a few seconds. Darcy seemed impossible until I found a corner on the map then smashed him with a single expert chain shot.

The end I had was great. A twist I didn't see coming at all.

Nah I clocked 19 hrs or so on normal difficulty. I took it slow, mucked around with weapons and gadgets and made sure I did all missions.

Maybe it was a 2 day weekend thing then. I remember getting pretty engrossed in it on the PC & kept returning for more.

Got this for 4 bucks in that SEGA steam event thing the other week, will play through it soon, always wanted to but was scared off by impressions being all over the shop.

Yeah, I've got it on the 360. I've just never had a chance to try it out and I am doubting it will be on the Xbone BC list.

Surprised you're playing something in 2016 that's not in 4K, running at 200fps on Oculus. :P

On the bright side it means I can relate to people who only play on PS4 or XBONE.
