Prost! Never watched it from there before so thought we'd try something different.
Aaaaand the new engines sound like someone's out the back with a whipper-snipper

Re: The Official Motorsport thread
They actually sound similar to the Volvo V8 Supercars... which is no bad thing as they sound sweet, but still is just not F1. Saying that it's only practice one so they wouldn't be at full pelt.

Re: The Official Motorsport thread
Alright well that Volvo comment was made when I was watching them on the main straight...now I'm at the final corner and they sound pretty damned good. Still very different though, and very complex. The turbo whine is wicked.

Re: The Official Motorsport thread
It's the (lack of) loudness that's the problem though. Previous years if there was just one car out you could hear it even from the other side of the circuit. Sitting here at turn 16 can only start to hear them as they come into turn 14. And then nothing by the time they get to turn 1.
Oh well at least the Albert Park residents will be happy!

Awesome race, had a great day down at turn 11.
Not impressed with the new engine sound, but very impressed with Vettel going nowhere.
Best on track according to my eyeballs - Rosberg, Bottas (he lost his wheel in front of me and STILL came back), Magnussen, Ricciardo.

It was great that Hamilton and Vettel scored no points today, but it was the most boring race I think I've ever seen.

Re: The Official Motorsport thread
This was only my third visit to the GP, but it was so good to be able to walk away from the track with a grin on my face for a change.
So much for that! Oh well, great race from Bottas and K-Mag. So stoked to see Williams with some serious pace again, and their car looks shit hot to go with it. Shame they had no gear available at the track though - but did see some lucky corporates walking around with Martini lanyards and bags so it's definitely out there!

Re: The Official Motorsport thread
After much thought on the sound issue I'm still undecided. They sound freaking awesome, but just not loud enough. It's also pretty cool that something that much quieter can be just as fast, and the teams reckon in a few races they'll be faster.
But with all that said it just lacks...something. You don't tremble in anticipation like you used to hearing them scream along the back straight. Now it's just nothing, then oh look, there they are!

Fuck I feel bad for him, racing like a champ and everyone else is fucking him up.
0 points in both races because of team errors, he's already way behind.
