Re: Master Race gaming thread
There was a girl at Supanova yesterday sitting on the ground playing a Nintendo 3DS and eating an entire full sized cream cake to herself. It was like a birthday cake. I didn't see any pc gamers doing that.

That's true. You can't even get Streetpass hits with your PC when you're walking the streets.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
You just can't lug a pc around and eat a cream cake at the same time.
Re: Master Race gaming thread
I'm still going to get a PS4 later in the year when Destiny lands but PC gaming rocks, so much easier than back in the day. Only issue is portability but can live without moving it all over the place.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
Gave the new Wolfenstein game a quick bash last night. I haven't updated my PC in over a year, so I still have an old AMD Phenom II X4 3.6GHz and an nVidia GTX 670. Game runs flawlessly (and looks amazing) on default settings at 2560x1600.
All hail the master race!

I was going to pick it up the other day but looking to hold off for the first price drop. Like the alternate history vibe going on

Re: Master Race gaming thread
I've been playing wolfenstein on bone and PC. PC version looks a bit nicer, but one thing I like about the console versions is the dynamic scaling to keep locked 60fps. PC version misses this so if you have your settings up to high you'll hit parts where the framerate drops/stutters.
I found that the pages per frame setting was a bit a performance killer, for AMD cards they can't do gpu transcode(no cuda), so setting that setting to high will bog down your cpu and drop frames. I found a PPF of 16 to be best and medium motion blur and with 4096 for shadows, everything else ultra/max. On those settings it was the best visual quality with no frame drops, locked 60fps.
Great game btw.

I think I'm going to buy Wolfenstein. Feedback from friends with the game seems better than the reviews getting around. Plus I also like the Starbreeze pedigree

No sub required? This is a trick right?
Re: Master Race gaming thread
The base maps are just tantalizing enough to make you buy at least one expansion.

Heh. I forgot I was going to make a point about 'next gen' consoles in that post, and how they're being held to task by old hardware.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't want it...don't need it and won't play it but I'll download it anyway because I usually only buy EA games when they're free.itch wrote:Battlefield 3 is now FREE

Battlefield 2 is still the best in the series.
Currently playing: Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition (PC), Far Cry 4 (PC), FIFA 23 (Series X)

Re: Master Race gaming thread
DRM whining piece which is yes a problem on PC, steam has helped to reduced the issue on newer games but you still have EA/ubishit pushing their own DRM, older games will be problematic because they still carry lots of old legacy drm baggage even though they're on steam.
This is sometimes why playing the pirated version is an easier/hassle free experience, sad but true.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
It blows my mind that Steam games can have two lots of DRM, so lame.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
Old games that never get recompiled to use steamworks, they just take the old disc release binary with legacy DRM and put it up on steam, hence the double layer DRM.
I guess for old games, the original developers/team have long moved on to make the needed code updates.

SSD Get.
Fresh install, panicked when I couldn't install my GFX card. Had the wrong drivers. Fixed it. Love it.
Installing BF4 now.
PC boots in 25 sec flat. Wonder if I can force it to skip the MOBO screen, make it faster...

Re: Master Race gaming thread
My PC lingers in bios screens more than actually booting. Maybe the times itch is quoting include the bios?
