Just trying to help!
Hey when I do a network check on the Xbox dash it shows my ping is around 200... It's around 20 on my phone.
Is this the same for all aussies? I'm assuming it's using a Seattle server

MCC patch appears to have given me consistent match making hits now.

Re: Official Xbox One Thread | Official Console of the Ranch
I lost my progress in halo 2 after one of the updates. Think I accidentally overwrote my save game by quickly jumping through the menu expecting the resume option to be preselected like it always was. Quick start must have been selected for me instead. Annoyed as there is no way to continue the campaign without starting all over again. Tried just starting from one of the missions now after the last update I'm in the same boat as I can't resume where I was up to in the mission. Ridiculous.
Re: Official Xbox One Thread | Official Console of the Ranch
First Xbone impressions - it's currently downloading Peggle 2, AC5, and Killer Instinct, so all I've done is use the menus:
- Size wasn't quite as bad as I thought, although the power brick is inexcusable and has a way too short cord.
- The controller feels surprisingly cheap. Was not expecting that. The click feels all wrong - I'll probably get used to it though.
- Trigger rumble feels nice
- Weird it doesn't default to 5.1 - had to manually switch it off stereo
- Holy hell, the menus are so amazingly confusing. Took me forever to find Settings (had to Google it), and it didn't match where it was in the welcome video. Totally baffled. Is it just me? I'm just used to PS3 / PS4 I guess - ultra simple.
- Is it really just one download at a time? And I switched it off and it seemed to not download further - is that right, or should it download when off?
That sounds pretty negative, but it was NOT a nice experience out of the box. That said, I'm super looking forward to playing Peggle 2, the superior Unity version and some MCC when it arrives next week

Re: Official Xbox One Thread | Official Console of the Ranch
no, you're right. It's an utterly awful OOBE. Playing games on it is alright, but as soon as you have to interact with the system, it degenerates into a confusing mess of menus and apps.
You should try playing it offline for a bit, just to see how much basic functionality (as in, stuff that was there on the 360) is lost without a connection. Ridiculous.

The bone UI/X is a fucking disaster I reckon. The PS4 has some major annoyances (let me put games in folders and arrange them how I want FFS!) but I find it way easier to get around.

Re: Official Xbox One Thread | Official Console of the Ranch
It isn't bad once you get used to it and pin some stuff, I mean now you know where options are you'll just press start from now on.
I didn't know you could double click the home button to bring up a quick menu, now I do it all the time.
They need to simplify it, have a games tab with all your games listed, friends tab should just be a list of friends and so on.
As for downloads, might need to check your settings, mine downloads when turned off, you see a dull (pulsing?) light on the console too.
You will end up loving some of the functionality, there are some decent features including snap
Also, as cool as dlna support is, movies and folders are also a pain to navigate.

Thanks, I'll check for the light.
I just realized I had the power brick pressed up against the exhaust vent right next to the CPU. Whoops.
Just grabbed Titanfall Deluxe Edition for $12.49, because why not? Not much of an online game these days but keen to give it a try.
So glad I have unlimited downloads here, 100gb day one for this guy.

Oh and Microsoft lets you switch the country your account is on - assuming I didn't lose any content, that is a super nice feature to have. Get to keep my old XBL account, first login in almost three years!

You shouldn't be surprised mech, it's been panned regularly. It's a bit like a new Windows, ridiculous to navigate at first but once you learn it it's okay. Pin settings to home, pin your most played games/apps to home.

Re: Official Xbox One Thread | Official Console of the Ranch
Is there a way to queue up a download for a game you've purchased via the website? Or the free Gold games? I can't seem to see it, although I can for 360 bizarrely?

Not sure, maybe smartglass?
Most of us in Aus buy our games from the dash because that yields the best results in purchasing from the us region.

This sounds like a Tassy thing. Be careful, I think that's what broke Pat, the internet and Windows. Recipe for disaster.unfnknblvbl wrote:...and then inexplicably lose them once your internet connection drops out...Madmya wrote:Pin settings to home, pin your most played games/apps to home.

I like that I left the Xbone downloading last night, switched it off, came back today and it was hard-switched off, had not downloaded anything (and wouldn't start up from controller). WTF.

OK, what am I doing wrong here? Whenever I select a game in the store and buy / download it, it kicks me out of the store, and when I go back to the store it resets me to the start. Is there a trick here?
And where do I find the free Xbox Live Gold games?

That's not a thing at all. User error or something. Anyway no tricks...probably check your NAT is open.
Games for Gold will be under a tab on the dash usually.
