shift + alt + G to turn off HUD for better screenshots. Look out your biggest windshield and lean forward for obstruction free shots. Just don't forget the short cut combo so you can get your HUD back

Thanks. I wondered how you did that. But I'm too proud to ask.

Re: Elite Dangerous
This game is starting to shit me.
Had a mission to kill a certain someone. After taking 30+ minutes to find him, i get rammed. Whilst spinning with absolutely NO CONTROL over my cobra he is able to keep shooting me until i die.
Poor headset went flying.

Re: Elite Dangerous
Call on myself or Burnz to assist you. It's well worth it. We've figured out how to jump into the same Unidentified Signal Source and fight a target together, leaving the target at a few percent so you can take the kill and finish the mission. And we're all in the same area so it shouldn't be too difficult to organise. I've had a few mission targets that have either completely destroyed me, forced me to flee, jumped when they're at very low hull health and then respawn at another USS at full health....it helps to fight in pairs.SKATKING AU wrote:This game is starting to shit me.

Fukk that made me laugh hard. I knew as soon as he was launching the first time that he was going to throttle forward or backward. I've done it myself. And about a week ago, I was hit so hard by an NPC target from a station mission that I only had 1.09minutes of oxygen left. Got to the station and in my panic was trying to land without my landing gear. Burnz was watching on and laughing when we both realised why I couldn't dock. In his amusement, Burnz also forgot to deploy his landing gear when trying to dock.Twiztid Elf wrote:Just went out there and read up for a few minutes, and OMG, the bitching about docking.
Like this video.... Fukking easy-mode COD kiddies these days.......
But that's a funny video.

Fighting among asteroids in the shadow of a planet is by far the most terrifying thing I've done in this game so far...

I must have known the game was going to own me.Cletus wrote:Without sinking megabucks into a flight stick I might not really use or need, I decided to buy the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro from EB today. Retailing at $59 I thought with it being Logitech I can't go wrong at that price but then EB went and sold it to me for $36.00
If I like the way the stick handles I'll look at a flashier stick set up.
A word of advice for those of you trading in a Hauler. Keep your shields and dump weapons. Keep chaff. Buy as many cargo slots as you can fit in. Check other stations too, you might find bigger cargo slots to install.
The risk of running without shields is generally (IMO) too high. Unless you're trading rares you're only making a few thousand extra credits and running a high risk of total loss. Keep your shields and ditch your system scanner and weapons. Without weapons you can jump further but you have no defence. Trust me, you won't win any fights in a Hauler so why carry the extra weight? When interdicted, run. Always run.
Don't take hunting missions until you can buy a Cobra. Fighting in an Adder or Hauler is folly.
When you go hunting, see if one of us is online or hit us up on Steam for some escort and backup action. Initially you might need it. There's no shame in needing some help. You're sure to learn something too.
Slaves
There are two kinds - Imperial Slaves and Slaves.
When joining the Empire, slaves are often required as a mission. These are always Slaves (never Imperial Slaves). They cost around 10000 credits each. An Empire mission asking for 2 Slaves will pay around 50000 credits. When you can, buy ten or more. Keep them for the Empire missions and watch a 100000 credit investment turn into 250000 credits and you earn rep with the Empire at the same time. These missions turn up at a lot of Empire held stations. Sometimes you're asked to donate 2 slaves. Your choice. I do it for the rep because i always profit pn slaves.

Re: Elite Dangerous
I had another go at mining, as Gun knows, and it's pretty profitable when you have the right gear at the right location. 5 refinery bins, medium mining laser and a pristine metallic ring would land me about 250k credits in an hour or so. It's fun for a while and you certainly get good at maneuvering your ship but by god it's hard to do more than 2 runs before boredom sets in. I much preferred bounty hunting. Either way it's going to take a while before I'd get a new ship at that rate so I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and trade in for a type 6, spend a week or so trading copious amounts and then upgrade to an Asp for exploring. That would be the last 'pillar' of gameplay tried out before I settle back into bounty hunting (in a Clipper - I'm already a Baron of the Empire), or maybe I'll get into some wars somewhere by then... loving his game still!

Re: Elite Dangerous
I can hear the slaves in my hold crying sometimes. My hold is filthy too. I NEVER hose it out. I never go in there so I'm not interested in the state of my hold. They're loaded in and unloaded for me so why bother going down there? I keep the loudest until last though. Their minor discomfort is all profit to me. Like I'm mining tears.
Protip for users of Gimballed Weapons. I just read this on the Frontier forum.
When your opponent drops a chaff and your gimbales go nuts, you can just unlock your target and your gimbals become fixed weapons. The choice is to either unlock or use the time the chaff is working to reposition yourself and let your weapons cool. But if the opponent is dropping a lot of chaff, you can unlock to keep hitting them. At least if you can keep them in your forward sights, you can hit them.

What ship are you in Burnz?
I doubled my money on a slave run recently. Have about 80k now, so I'm definitely in the market for my first ship.

Type 6. My progression has been:Twiztid Elf wrote:What ship are you in Burnz?

sidey: missions
adder: missions, bounty hunting, mining
cobra: bounty hunting, mining
type 6: trading
I've been upgrading them as much as possible along the way. You lose like 10% when trading it in but it's worth it. My Cobra was worth almost 3M when I traded it in.
I hope I can get enough cash for an Asp quickly as the problem with the type 6 is that it's good for only one thing: trading. I like changing things up in Elite so not being able to do this is going to be pretty damn boring.

Re: Elite Dangerous
I've been trading in the Type 6 too. I've amassed a little over 6 million credits so I'm half way to an Asp in terms of buying, outfitting and filling the cargo hold.
I took a little vid showing how to orient your ship when exiting supercruise to come out facing the station airlock. Get between the station and the body it orbits. The entry is almost always facing the planet.

Re: Elite Dangerous
10 million credits, 3 million dollar Type 6, 200K Eagle
Look at me Chopper, I'm fucken flyin mate.
Been doing a short back and forth with 104 cargo slots. I'm doing about 1.2 million credits profit an hour. Tried the Asp...decided to go hard in the Type 6 and work toward the Python...maybe. Just enjoying mindless trading at the moment. I keep getting the urge to buy a Cobra and outfit it heavily...I could max one out easily, but I keep deciding against it for now. When I'm utterly sick of trading I'll head into the combat zones.
Where is everyone? Nobody seems to be playing. If you need a credit kickstart, meet up with me and I'll drop you a load of Beryllium or something for you to sell on a blackmarket. Give you some trading money to play with.

Buying it on my next lot of days off. Looks a lot like Euro Trucker in space but willing to invest time in it

Re: Elite Dangerous
Trading killed my interest pretty quickly - but only temporarily of course. I've played a few other games in my spare time, then I'll be in Japan for 3 weeks on holiday so I'll not get back into it for at least a month - a couple of patches should have landed by then so it'll be interesting to check it out then for sure.
Re: Elite Dangerous
Played this a bit last night. I'm all about efficient trading so the first thing I did is get rid of my shields and scanner for more cargo hold space. The starting ship can hold 10 cargo then.
