Some of those acousticy songs remind me of California by Mr Bungle. I knew Matador would rip I'm studio format.

Digging it, and will dig it more as the songs become familiar.
Sometimes I think Patton distorts his voice a bit too much though, sounds much better without the noise.

This could change after a few listens... but Matador is my fav song, love it love it!!!
Can't believe I'm listening to new FNM, its a bit different but a great return.
Don't think it's as good as album of the year, any album with evidence, last cup of sorrow and ashes to ashes takes some beating.

Yeah, Matador rips. I'm really digging Black Friday too. I'm so surprised at how this album turned out.

Ooooh, how embarrassing... I meant stripsearch.
Bought the CD today, some of it is classic faith no more but it's different... Probably their least mainstream friendly album, I dig it but the wife doesn't... So far I'd rate or behind album of the year and angel dust, and equal with king for a day.

Got the cd yesterday and listened to it a couple of times now. IMO, its not better the Album of the year or King for a day...well its too early to say as I've listened to them so many times. Few songs are already becoming favs, Matador, Sunny side up but superhero still stands out for me. It just has a mix of everything that is Faith No More for me. Definately would of liked it to be a bit more heavier, guitar led and some distortion like Angel Dust but thats cool. Each album is their own. After 18 years, I'm just glad to be listening to new Faith No More.
Everybody be cool.....You be cool

Re: What music are you listening to at the mo bro?
After a few more listens my fav is matador still, got to crack it in the car, one of their best songs imo.
Sunny side up is up there, superhero is the most FNM vibe of the lot so I like it for that reason, also up there.
The album is a bit short, needed another 2-3 tracks... And the cd slip is shitty, I prefer to have a case.
The wife and I turned the TV off and listened to it fav FNM songs last night, timeless... Gotta say star a.d is their most underrated song, Patton sings the pants off that song.

Yeah superhero has grown on me, psyches me up.
Matador though... Wicked song, love how it builds.

Anyone heard the David Lynch album 'The big dream'?
It's pretty good.

I think I'm digging the newer sounding stuff the most, i.e. Sol Invictus, Rise of the Fall and Black Friday.

There are a few songs in the middle I really like... Separation anxiety is good and the song after is better, gets me fucking amped.

Cone of Shame. Yeah, that was an immediate favourite of mine. There's actually no filler at all in this album, I think I prefer it over Album of the Year.

It's different, AoTY is softer and easier to digest, less screaming than Sol.
I can't put it ahead, it's shoulder to shoulder though... It's the FNM album to crank when my FNM loving wife isn't around if that makes sense.

Re: What music are you listening to at the mo bro?
Yeah you're right, Stripsearch is better than any songs on Sol Invictus too. One thing I do know, I prefer it over The Real Thing.
Re: What music are you listening to at the mo bro?
Have to say I don't really like the new FNM album... Wanted to, but didn't. I'm a huge Patton fan but it really seems like it's a favour he's doing for the other guys in the band who might not have that much going on otherwise.
You know, Tomahawk is just a far superior band IMO, way hipper and stranger.
Having said that, Patton sings his ass off on it.
2.5/5 (generous score IMO, I think my interest will fade in this album)

Re: What music are you listening to at the mo bro?
Yeah that's just another era isn't it, Patton worth his weird fake voice and rappy verses, plus Jim martins guitar and the tinny mixing make it sound different... I like the album and would like them to re-do it, but it's the Patton era album I listen to the least.Madmya wrote:Yeah you're right, Stripsearch is better than any songs on Sol Invictus too. They really matured, every album was different from the last... Angel Dust is my fav though.
As for Patton doing Sol as a favor to the others, is that just an assumption of is there some truth to it?
I reckon it would be for the fans and for himself... But if he feels he needs to help out his former band mates then there's a chance of a new Bungle album.
I gave my left nut for Sol, I'd be without nuts altogether if that was to happen.
Re: What music are you listening to at the mo bro?
Oh no just a hunch, I doubt Mike does anything he doesn't want to really.

I love Tomahawk, Oddfellows is an excellent album, but just can't agree they're a far superior band.
