Yeah it's funny, was playing arkham origins over the weekend and the combat looks fake and it feels really easy, I much preferred it in mordor which has a similar combat system but there is just more weight/feel and oomph behind strikes, although the combat in that got easy too once you unlocked a lot of your abilities.

Since batman can't kill anyone, really limits your options.

It's heavily discounted on g2play and few other sites? Which is odd, I'll wait for more price drops and grab it under $20.

I have a stack of previous games to get through first anyways.

Looks like we have a watchdogs scenario on PC, lots of people complaining about stutter and general inconsistent performance. The game even locks the framerate to 30fps which you need to bypass via ini file hacks.

Graphic options are barebone, texture settings for example only have low and normal options.

Hearing mixed bag reports on the visuals, typical unreal engine 3 limitations, they pushed this old engine too far.

It looks as though the physics go crazy, Skyrim-style if the cap is raised. The thing is Skyrim was capped at 60; so the situation was ok. Thirty feels very low indeed in 2015.
I have a horrible feeling that this isn't easily fixable.
I have a 144Hz monitor and was hoping to see 80-100 fps, so this is pretty disappointing. I may even drag my PC downstairs and play this on the TV now, since my 144Hz Gsync monitor is wasted here :\
Video here also claims the physics go crazy if you raise the cap, as well as showing how to do it.
Physics are broken above 30fps. What a massive fuck up. :down:

Modifying game files causes performance issues? Surely not.

No I can see why they delayed this game 8-9 months. Yikes.

This is typically what I hate about PC gaming. When it's good is great but when things happen like this that you've dedicated thousands of dollars too, well it sucks. I hope they fix this up asap. I guess they didn't put too much resources towards the PC version ; both console versions run very well.

Just going through the thread on GAF. Stuttering/Hitches...

Just checked out the user reviews on steam:
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

370 positive, 647 negative.

Lots of issues with the 970.

I guess the thing that has taken people by surprise is that previous batman games ran and looked great on PC, people assumed this one would follow the form of previous titles. This was ported by iron galaxy not by rocksteady like older games.

I think we can take away from all this, if a developer is hiding a particular version before release, it's more than likely going to be coming in hot and will require a few patches. Avoid and wait for prices to drop, save money and get a better experience/less frustration.

Also we've seen a clear pattern with "gamesworks" games, they all have crippling performance. Nvidia needs to fuck off with their 50% framerate drop "enhancements".

Read about the master race port and makes me angry. Pc gamers get the shaft again.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015- ... nce-issues" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is why ebgames exist candy. When it happens to you, ypu can return a busted game and explain the game was faulty. Steam bringing in the refunds thing has really helped, but this is textbook example of why pc gamers need to watch out for poor ports. I said it ages ago: not all coders are created equal.

Just like angry console gamers who got shafted with borderlands the handsome jack collection, which incidentally was a port done by iron galaxy the same devs, took gearbox 2 months to come in and fix their mess, you can see the huge improvements at DF.

I have no idea why Warner chose these guys to do the PC port, if you look at their wrap sheet, they're basically a console developer with very little core PC experience. They only had 8 weeks with the code as well.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Galaxy_Studios" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Considering the delays already, Rocksteady must have been behind and maybe the call to outsource the PC version was done to hit the deadline, but the negative PR on the PC version is drowning out online forum talk. The PC perf thread at gaf is double the size of the OT thread. wow! :lol:

Steam's new refund policy getting a good workout too.

All I hear is fat guys telling me how great digital versions of games are and retail is doomed but you guys can at least understand the benefits of not preordering things and ebrentals now.

You as pc gamers need to show some spine and not take abuse. At least we console supemicists can wait until the crsp games go into the second hand bin before buying. You guys just buy shit before its finished which is insane. Stop believing hype and instead of being fanboys, only give money AFTER ITS MADE. YOU ARE SETTING A BAD EXAMPLE. You are letting these guys abuse you.

is it possible that iron galaxy was paid to make it run like crap on pc though?

They need to investigate that.

too many pc gamers just accept the official stories and go online and make fools of themsrlves not realising these console manufacturers want them dead because they won't pay for online gaming.
by treating them like shit, they hope you convert to console. That's what i think is happening here.

Steam has a new refund policy for this reason, Origin has similar refund policies too, it's actually more generous than steam.

It's the console digital stores which are behind the times with no open satisfaction refund policy.

Picked up the superior PS4 ;) version today at JB, with the additional content which I just completed downloading, patch is just getting installed as I type this.

Played 15 mins, so far it's pretty neat. Frame rate is solid, just learning the controls. It has been awhile since I played a batman game but looking forward to sinking some time into it. PC owners I am sorry, let's hope they fix this mess.

edit: removed gifs, sorry maybe they were to large file size wise, don't want to bog down anyones system.

I've been playing origins on PC lately, when I finish that off the price on g2play will probably be $15 and a few patches to sort the issues.

Using a different costume than the one you begin with.

This is perhaps the prettiest next-gen title I've played.

Purchased this on Xbox One today. Very impressed in the look of the game. Frame rate suffers a little when driving but gliding around city is stunning. Really loving it so far. Too bad PC version is an utter mess as I'd have picked up that version.
