Re: Fuck off summer
Summer has officially started and I hates it. Many sleepless nights coming up stuck to my pillow.
How are we all keeping cool? Might try dipping into the lake nearby but I'm scared of rads. Remind me to take my pip boy off.

Re: Fuck off summer
The 6 months of Spring and Summer can seriously go fuck themselves. My hay fever during Spring is unbearable. Then these sleepless nights and uncomfortable sweaty days are pathetic. Give me sub 18 degree days with a cold wind and constant rain. Fuck this heat. 41 degrees in Melbourne tomorrow- I'll fucking die from the heat!

Re: Fuck off summer
We have evaporative cooling throughout the house. perfect for dry heat, not so perfect for humidity which we in Melbourne rarely suffer from. I sleep with all the doors open and the cooling running fairly low. It's bliss. I love it. There's a sense of freedom too because you don't have to shut all the windows and draw the curtains to keep cool. I dislike aircon and evaporative is a great compromise. We get the house down to around 26 in the daytime when it's really hot. But the cool air flowing through the house, with the doors open makes it very livable. I think it's more economic to run too. At night we switch it over to fan and just run a cool breeze through the whole house. I haven't had an uncomfortable summer sleep since we built this place. If you can afford to, look at evap cooling.
I should explain that evaporative cooling requires some doors or windows open to let the air out unlike refrigerated aircon that demands you close yourself into the house. There's too much of a difference in the indoor temp and I tend to find I need to go outside and warm back up with refrigerated aircon.
The downside of evap is when it's muggy, you can't really run the evap cooling, only the fans, otherwise the tiles get damp..condensation forms inside. But you can still run the fan in the system to move the air around. As I said, it's rarely a thing we have to consider because its rarely muggy here.

Re: Fuck off summer
I'm so glad I escaped Adelaide's heat, even if shit has turned south (no pun intended) for me otherwise.
There's was some fuckstick in the lunchroom the other day moaning that "it's warming up out there!!!". It's 20'C you fucking moron, not the end of the cunting world. Fuck, I hate that guy.

ok so it's 42 outside and we have the house at 26 which isn't terrible because the air is moving around.

Just rained pretty heavy for a few minutes here. The temperature dropped from 40 to 30 just like that.

That place is a hole, only thing it had going for it was the weather.

Gold coast is a nice place, but you now reside with coasties. Coasties vs Adelaide locals is a really tough pick.

I'd just like to say Brisbane is having a splendid summer. *touch wood* *touches pants*
Odd considering were supposed to be enduring a very strong El Nino.

Re: Fuck off summer
Sick of these gusty winds we've been having the last 8 days. Gazebo fell over cos the winds ripped the tie downs. First world problems.

Re: Fuck off summer
Spend New Years in Melbourne cooking a spit roast outside in 41 degree heat. It was unbearable. Tasted magnificent but fucked if I'll ever attempt that again. Thankfully though there's less than 2 months till this horrible season of summer is over.

Re: Fuck off summer
I hate muggy. Unfortunately the frequency of humid Summer weather in Melbourne has increased over the years. I find the traditional Melbourne dry high 30s, early 40s occasional heatwaves easy compared to 30s muggy.Cletus wrote:We too are enjoying a splendid summer, chaps. It's a balmy evening.
