GOTY 2015
Saw there wasn't an already dedicated thread for this. I'm limiting myself to the games I spent any substantial amount of time with and my preferred version:
10 points - Fallout 4 (PC)
9 points - MGSV (PC/PS4)
8 points - Witcher 3 (PC)
7 points - Destiny: The Taken King (PS4)
6 points - Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4)
5 points - Dirt Rally (PC)
4 points - Dying Light (PC)
Games that are potentially awesome but I've had zero time to play and worth a mention:
Bloodborne
Pillars of Eternity
Overall, this has been the best year of gaming I've experienced in recent memory - hopefully 2016 continues the trend of awesome gaming.

Re: GOTY 2015
I'm not counting games that haven't left beta on Steam Greenlight or whatever (so that discounts a few of my favourite games). I've also been seriously disillusioned with gaming this year. That, combined with the fact that I've got fuck-all money since the breakup means I've played hardly anything released this year. In fact, these are the only six games released this year that I've invested any time into:
10 points: Assault Android Cactus
9 points: Ori and the Blind Forest
8 points: Kerbal Space Program
7 points: Yoshi's Wooly World
6 points: Mortal Kombat X
5 points: Ninja Pizza Girl (sorry guys, it gets a hit samey after a while)
...and that's it. I haven't even played Forza 6 yet, thanks to lacking a playseat. I've spent loads of time with Halo MCC and GTA5, which were late '14 releases though, and heaps with 360 BC.
(edit: clearly, I can't count)

Re: GOTY 2015
Witcher 3
Fallout 4
Transformers Devastation
Xenoblade
Monster Hunter 4
Galak-Z
Splatoon
Darius Chronicle Saviours
Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN - (9 from edge as good as skyrim but worse than Skyward Sword)
Very hard to choose one because of the number of them. But I would say Xenoblade because of the cool world. Witcher 3 in terms of quality. FO4 because it's a long time since NV. In that order.

Re: GOTY 2015
I need to work out what I have played that actually came out this year
Played my first game(s) of Rocket League today. It's awesome. Reminds me of the old Deathball mod I used to love for UT2K4:
http://www.deathball.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Will be interesting to see if the crowdfunded stand-alone sequel to Deathball (Supraball) takes off.

MGSV will probably win. Everyone wants it to. So many hideo Kojima nerds here.

Can someone list every game that came out this year? I've played so little and have no idea when games I have played came out.
Candy Crush Soda Saga was this year right?

So, on the handheld front the Vita is the winner
PC did great considering how many more games were released. WiiU had a shit year, no wonder Nintendo want to kill it as soon as possible

I don't even think I've completed, let alone played 10 games released this year.

Re: GOTY 2015
My biggest issue is working away from home. I cram in as much game time on my days off as I can but the kind of games that have been released this year, huge open world games, has meant a lot longer with each game. Still, I've had a great year gaming-wise. Just hoping to get my hands on a portable version of Persona 5.

Re: GOTY 2015
EDIT: An in-order list.
Dragon Age: Inquisition GOTY (PC) - 10 points
The actual game came out in 2014 but the DLC and GOTY versions came out in 2015. There are so many things that frustrate me about Inquisition (and I guess RPGs in general). Like crafting and shit. Picking weeds to be able to create healing potions what is this bullshit. The whole idea of "dumbing down" games to cater to the console crowd is overplayed I think, if they got rid of crafting I will be one happy camper. Does anyone seriously enjoy it?
Having said all that though I am a sucker for Bioware. The Mass Effect series is my favourite series from the last generation, but I only really got stuck into the Dragon Age series in 2015. I finished the original game a while ago (years after it first came out though) but played through the Awakening expansion, Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition in 2015 (finished the final piece of Inquisition DLC, Trespasser, yesterday). And I loved it, despite its flaws. And after Trespasser, I cannot wait for Dragon Age 4 (after Mass Effect: Andromeda, of course!)
I've always loved flawed epics. See also: My adoration for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.
Rocket League (PC) - 9 points
I have yet to venture properly online because I don't really play online anymore, but I have played quite bit of LAN/private online matches and single player and still enjoy it a lot. Easy to learn, difficult to master = brilliant gameplay.
Game of Thrones (Telltale) (PC) - 8 points
I haven't yet finished this but so far it captures the feel of the TV show perfectly.
Metal Gear Solid V (PC) - 7 points
Inquisition captured my attention and wouldn't let go. If it wasn't for that I have no doubt this would rank higher. The original is my favourite PSone game of all time and 2 and 3 would fit somewhere in the top 10 of my all-time favourite PS2 games. Now that I've finished Inquisition this might be the next game I lose myself in. Added bonus: I got it for free with my GTX 980 Ti
GTA V (PC) - 6 points
Look, it's GTA V. I've played a lot of the 360 version but am holding off on playing too much of the PC version until I get my Oculus Rift. Then shit will go down
Mortal Kombat X (PC) - 5 points
I preferred the last one. A bit of a let down.
Star Wars Battlefront (PC) - 4 points
Speaking of let downs Can never find online games LAN and single player is still fun though, for what it is.
Lego Jurassic World (Xbox 360) - 3 points
It's a Lego game.
Games I won't have enough time to play this year so therefore won't vote for:
Fallout 4

Re: GOTY 2015
Some good ones were released at the tail end of the year. That's the thing about these lists that makes them pointless. Many people won't have time to play those by the time the voting begins.
Yakuza 5 and MGSV would probably be included in my list if I had the time to open it up.
FF14 Heavensword is another.
You guys are old and slow. Nobody believes your choices anyway. I noticed you want Star Wars Battlefront to be the winner but due to how shallow it is as a proper game it's not on the level of Splatoon or Hell Divers.
Although Hell Divers is just a twin stick shooter with sqaud elements it's fun.
Not that many votes for tomb raider... I thought that was a serious GOTY contender going by a lot of people in here. (MS exclusive to beat unchartered)

Asinine. Every word you say and post you make - in a word, asinine. Not only that, you are delusional - not a single vote has been cast for Battlefront as top gameGameHED wrote:Some good ones were released at the tail end of the year. Re: GOTY 2015
Yeah but like Aliens: colonial marines, the star wars fans wanted it to be awesome. And like sonic fans let thier guard down.
All these movie licensed games end up shit. hehe Give it up already. Nobody will preorder anymore based on hype. Support games with original worlds that don't use the license as a cash cow.
Mario Maker (a level editor) on wii u is better than that star wars game which probably sunk all its money on marketing.
10 0000000000 levels.
The more you hype the game, the earlier it comes out and the more rushed it feels.. Seen it before.
If only nintendo had the star wars license and factor 5 was still around... (remember Rogue Squadro on gamecube and n64?) THEN I'd be excited a little bit. Actual quality gameplay from movie license for once..
Notice how all the good star wars games were on nintendo platforms?
Super star wars, Super Empire strikes back, Super RoTJ, rogue squadron series etc... Bloody EA nut huggers!
With all that money they could have made a sequel to Kingdom of Amalur..
