I watched more than half the game this morning (only just) and didn't see Carolina score a single point (not even a bloody replay) and saw Seattle score 24. Wtf happened?! I thought their defence was supposed to be one of the best.

Well they tried their best to keep Carolina in it by not really showing any attempt to put more points on the board, that was very much Brisbane-like last year. Then Cam Newton spilling it close to the line was Ben Hunt-like too, but on the wrong team.

I'm more amazed I seem to have a better read on the game than you do after such little time.

I spent the SB at Rekas. Thanks Reka for hosting. The normal place we both go to was unavailable due to illness.
I enjoyed the game. It was a messy, scrappy game, which is to be expected when it's two good defenses going at it. But it played out exactly like I expected it to.

Everyone who picked Denver from a football perspective (ie not "Hey I like their colour/logo" etc) deserves credit.

Their defense obviously is great and peaked at the right time especially when they sat Brady on his arse...20 times? Something like that in the AFC Title game. I think the Carolina defense certainly came to play and held up their end of the deal, but the Panthers offense disappeared across the board. Some poor passes from Newton, dropped passes from the receiving corps, the O line got clowned and I think they were let down by their offensive coaching.

There were times in the first half where it looked like establishing the threat of Newton running was going to keep the ball moving for Carolina...and in the second half they didn't even bother having a crack where that ability would keep the defense much more honest.

But still...the Broncos defense and Wade Phillips deserve some kind of shared MVP and Gatorade shower. They single-handedly won a championship for Denver. This has a 2000 Baltimore Ravens smell to it.

P. Manning is out of his mind if he does NOT retire.

I'm loving Cam Newton's bitter tears. I was surprised he pussed out in trying to get that loose ball since he's the only quarterback I've seen put his body on the line taking runs.
