Half life 2, The Witcher 3, Fallout 4 plus many others are supported using VorpX.
Full list here.

I'll be buying the software once everything arrives.

Cool. Hopefully it's pretty decent as I need more content than tech demos .

I think it's a recipe for nausea.
Keen to hear your impressions though.

Tried it with Half-Life 2 and Alien Isolation, nearly spewed after Alien Isolation.
Each game is going to require custom setups in terms of field of view etc.

Re: OculusRift
There is and it seemed like with a bit of tweaking it would be really good.
I just tried playing Project Cars after dropping the detail levels down to get the smoothest framerate and I almost chucked.
I'm starting to question if I personally can handle games in VR. Will give it a little while longer to see, worst case scenario I sell it for profit.

Re: OculusRift
That's no good. The only game I have struggled with is Adr1ft. No issues in Project Cars at all from day dot.
They say you can build a resistance to it.

Re: OculusRift
I feel perfectly fine with Lucky's Tale, Eve Valkyrie and obviously the short-film stuff. All the tech-demos are fine but then again there's not much movement involved. I can fully understand why they have their intensity ratings for these games/apps.
The stuff that's made me feel off has been the movement in Ethan Carter and Project Cars (I'm not counting the VorpX stuff since it's not optimised). Project Cars feels like a FOV issue.
I'd like to buy Chronos and check that out. If I can build up a resistance then awesome, but it could also come down to certain games are good and others aren't and that's that.
I've submitted for a refund on Project Cars and am getting Doom instead haha. Might get Project Cars again later on during a Steam sale.

Re: OculusRift
I had a few races of Project Cars yesterday that I really enjoyed.
One was in a BAC Mono which is open top had a grin from ear to ear the whole race.
The other was in a GT3 race 10 laps. Where I had a lead and spun on cold tyres after my pit stop recovering to fight my way back to 8th spot. Even with the lower res and lower settings I the dynamic weather with the fog coming in at dusk was just amazing.

Re: OculusRift
I remember feeling that nausea when i tried oculus the first time, took me a short while to mentally block it out. It's basically your brain getting conflicting signals from your sight and inner ear, which then your brain computes as you're hallucinating or sick from something you ate, hence throw it up, get it out of your system.
This is going to be the biggest challenge for them, most people will naturally react like this because our brains are instinctively programmed to function this way.

Re: OculusRift
Yeah for sure. I don't care if I use this thing exclusively for racing/driving games for the foreseeable future.
That's exactly what I wanted it for. It's gonna be hard to go back to non VR though now. The same as it is going back to controller racing games after using a wheel.

Re: OculusRift
I think the best VR content is going to be for the Vive and will be custom made for it.
What I think will make it particularly compelling is that the Vive has the 'lighthouse' motion tracking system and allows for more of a... 'virtual living room' size environment to explore.
With my experience with the rift I remember thinking that this 'tethered to my desktop PC' thing just wasn't cutting it.
However, I did see potential for games like... flight simulators and driving games (because you're sitting in a chair in those circumstances anyway).

Re: OculusRift
I'm sure that when this is all borne out, rift will be on board with less of a 'sit at your desk' style experience (or at least accommodate other styles at all, which it currently doesn't) and I suspect what is really going to liberate both of these platforms is going to be wireless tech.
I'm not really concerned about Rift 'falling behind' too far because they obviously have great backing from Facebook money etc, but I definitely think the Vive is more tantalizing at the moment.

Re: OculusRift
I've been using the BAC Mono during MNR. It makes up for its lower top end with its amazing cornering. I quite like the Mono. The only real problem is how easily you can be punted off the internet with the slightest tap.Kangawallaby wrote:I had a few races of Project Cars yesterday that I really enjoyed.

My rift will should arrive tomorrow. I'm having second thoughts now on what I'm going to do with it. I don't have the capable hardware, was going to buy the new nvidia cards when they launch, now I'm not sure. Still deciding.

Arrived. Pick up an 980Ti super clocked as well. Couldn't wait for the new nvidia card.

Well I can't take the video card back, but I could sell the rift if I'm not happy with it .

Well I'll be playing multiplatform games on PC now. I'm keeping my ps4 for more cinematic games were the frame rate fluctuates between the silent era and the talkie era.

Re: OculusRift
Good stuff. Looking forward to your impressions.
I'm still hooked on American Truck Simulator and Project Cars in VR.
Apparently Assetto Corsa Rift Patch could be as close as tomorrow ! Please let it be true as marrying the handling model of that with the immersion of the Rift is a match made in heaven ohh man that is gonna be something else.
