No fucking way.
Just last week I was thinking/listening to these boys. Amazon is selling New.Rare.Live for $250... might be the most valuable album I own.

Re: the Metal thread
Ahaha holy fuck, Superheist. I jumped on board when they got all nu-metally and popular and then lost interest very quickly afterwards.
Took a quick listen to the clip, and I think my tastes have changed more to what they're doing nowadays. I'll take a listen.
[edit] Got curious and listened to their last studio album with the replacement vocalist, and I just recalled one night aeons ago standing in the Evelyn watching an opening band play to about 10 people. Turns out the vocalist for that shitty opening band (From the Inside) was the replacement vocalist for Superheist, and I had recalled him based on his voice. Freaky.

Re: the Metal thread
Yeah the drum style has definitely changed so it's no surprise they have a new drummer. This new guy is definitely much more metal-influenced. Still no word on the new vocalist though, they're making a big deal of the announcement too which is intriguing as it would mean it's a name we'd all know. I'm hoping it's the dude from Mammal.

Re: the Metal thread
So Superheist had a live Facebook thing before.
New single will be out next Wednesday, they'll play it on Triple J Tuesday night. Then soon after they fly out to Los Angelas to record their new album with a well known producer or something. No release date but will be available on all formats including limited edition vinyl.
Tour dates will be released soon, they will be touring major cities mid November into early December with more dates and cities to come.
They do have a new singer but didn't say who it was, Simon from in:extremis was in the live feed typing shit, pretty cool.
They did answer a question I asked, I asked if the new album would be as heavy as chrome matrix and they said yes so happy days!

Re: the Metal thread
If that is the most single-worthy song on the album then we should be in for something very interesting!
Re Superheist: They would say it's as heavy as chrome matrix though, wouldn't they?
They've always been heavy, I just can't see them being Chrome Matrix heavy again... particularly from what we've heard. Unless their vocalist is a bit screamo which I highly doubt.
Edit: How good's that solo in Devy's new song?

Re: the Metal thread
Just listened to the new Superheist track. Dunno. I think I'm just over Ezekiel Ox. His singing (as opposed to rap-yelling) has gone downhill dramatically over the years.

Re: the Metal thread
I don't think a hell of a lot of the single either and I'm probably not a big enough fan of his previous stuff to know his voice has gone downhill. But I thought his singing voice was good here...
I love that it's unashamedly Nu metal
I'm definitely going to try catch the gig at the Zoo.

Re: the Metal thread
He used to be a really good singer on the earliest Full Scale Deflection (and Full Scale) and Mammal stuff, but he's gradually lost a lot of the good qualities of his voice. He can definitely still sing, but he used to be fantastic and now he's just ok.
Fun fact: Ezekiel Ox was part of the ensemble cast of Mamma Mia when it was doing an Aus run in the early 2000's.

Why did no one mention Kill em All and Ride the Lightning Remastered were released?

Re: the Metal thread
Transcendence is one of the better DTP albums I think. The track Higher really surprised me, on first listening after 3 minutes I thought it was terrible then bam! Still not sure about Stars or Offer Your Light though.
That Superheist track I posted earlier, Hands Up High, isn't even on the album. It's just a bonus track for the deluxe edition. They do have a single, it's not heavy at all so fucked if I know what he was talking about edgecrusher. But they do say it gets heavier. I guess the Heist have always had pop-sounding singles.
Don't hate it, don't love it. Damn he has a good voice though.

Re: the Metal thread
I can't say it's my favourite on the album - I much prefer Silvera:
but even that can't compare with the magnificence that is The Gift of Guilt:

I won't argue with you there, I think I prefer Silvera too. I've just known about it for a lot longer than Stranded.
I should get L'enfant Sauvage.

Re: the Metal thread
So, even though I've gone through a shitload of Metal (mostly Prog) this year, I've had the general feeling that this year has been quite underwhelming (I'm looking at you Periphery). Some solid albums but nothing that I absolutely love.
Then... a new challenger!
The Reticent - On the Eve of a Goodbye
I'm only a few songs listen into a massive concept album but I'm getting ready to call it as one of the best this year. Given it's a concept album written as an end to end piece, the fact that I love individual songs is making me rather excited.
Plus all instruments and vocals are done by one guy. Nuts.
[edit] Yep. Fucking sold. ATOY. Listening to a song which starts out as a jumping chugging riff fest with death metal growls, and the fucker breaks into a saxophone solo.

Re: the Metal thread
Do it. The album is fucking amazing right from the first song. The weird-arsed breakdown/solo at the end of Explosia is worth the price of entry alone, then there's the title track is brilliant. The Gift of Guilt is fucking majestic, but holy shit, Born in Winter takes the chorus idea from Gift and runs with it. The whole damn song is finger-tapping.Madmya wrote: I should get L'enfant Sauvage.
I have no idea how they do it on 6-string guitars. I can play it on my detuned 7s (drop-A) because of the different fretting positions, but I can't on the "correct" position...
