Re: AFL Season 2014
Given the evenness and unpredictability of the season, this finals series has been arse. All blow-outs bar one.
Thank God for the Eagles vs Port game.

Just over 14k attended the GWS vs WC game. Lowest AFL/VFL finals attendance since World War 1.

Re: AFL Season 2014
Not great with my predictions so far, but you'd think that, not only with the week off plus the home ground (and crowd) advantage, that would be enough to get both the Crows and Tigers over the lines on the weekend...
Crows by 37 points and Tigers by 25 points.

Re: AFL Season 2014
I gave the cats no chance last week against the Swans, this week so much confident this week against the Crows...
I'm expecting the old tigers wobbly legs to appear this week. You know those ones the have had over the years and earlier this year where after been in front, come to the last quarter and get rolled.....just have a feeling. Then expect the 90,000 tiger fans at the MCG to not let the 2000 GWS fans leave alive

Re: AFL Season 2014
If it's an Adelaide vs Richmond Grand Final then Adelaide better wear their home jumper. Fuck Richmond and fuck the VFL.

Adelaide would be the travelling side but they have to get past Geelong first.

Re: AFL Season 2014
Horrible. Like the whole 2017 finals series thus far.
Re: AFL Season 2014
I can't explain it, but I have this completely irrational hatred of Richmond at the moment, and I really don't want them to win it. Maybe I'm bitter due to my own club's lack of success, maybe I'm just sick of hearing about Dusty every 10 seconds. Maybe I'm just so used to Richmond being a bit of a joke (9thmond, never winning a final, microwaved memberships, etc) that it's disorientating for them to actually be doing well.
For last night's prelim I chucked $50 on Richmond to win it. That way if they lose I'd be happy because it's season over, but if they won I'd make some money. So here I am with my $77.50.
I feel like I should be happy for them but ... I just can't, not sure why. It's really unsettling.

Re: AFL Season 2014
It was an exciting end but it was a horrible game. This has been, without a doubt the worst finals series I can remember. And all credit to the tigers and crows for making it to the grand final but honestly- have 2 worse teams made it to the grand final? Crows may be the better team but this year has shown that the top teams aren’t really all that good. I suppose that’s a good thing as it’s made for a more even season but there’s been no stand out team all year. Anyway, the crows should win the flag as they are clearly the better team but I wouldn’t be too upset seeing the tigers win one for us Vics and keeping the flag where it belongs... which is in the state where every interstate club should feel privileged to play in what was once the VICTORIAN football league!Ambrose Burnside wrote:The final that went into extra time and was decided after the siren was pretty goodPeppermint Lounge wrote:Horrible. Also, if Cotchin goes for that soft bump this game has lost all credibility. I couldn’t believe how much those wankers on the commentary team were building Ign up when he was clearly going for the ball.

Love to see long suffering Melbourne teams break the drought.
I shed a tear for Footscray last year. Same again this year for the Tigers. And I hate both teams.
Edit: I just realized the two teams left are the Demons and the Saints. Carn the D's. I coudn't give a shit about the Saints.

Re: AFL Season 2014
Congratulations mate. What a great win. Didn’t see it coming. Perseverance and belief after years of failure produced this flag. Gives all other teams thereabouts hope they can make it and win the flag.emptyvessel wrote:As a long-time Tigers supporter, I'm in shock. Doesn't seem real yet.
Re: AFL Season 2014
Thankyou Richmond, Crows fans are ths worst, they still bang on abiut 97,98 like it was yesterday, all collectively think it is a state of origin comp and bandwagon like no other with a huge sense of entitlement. So they can all suck a fuck I am going to enjoy this week. By the way in Adelaide it is more common thst they are Port haters first Crows fans second hence they treat 2007 as their greatest win so on social media lots of them lost then go straight to pics of 2007, how moronic.
Vzzzbx, you lose again!

Re: AFL Season 2014
Dusty wasn't BOG. Houli was robbed.
Melbourne 2018 premiers? Or St Kilda?
Anyway, silly season is here. Such an annoying time of the year. Will be interesting to see what Gold Coast get for a banged-up Ablett.
The Eagles have lost a shitload of experience so far:
OUT: Priddis, Mitchell, Butler, Giles, Petrie (r), Tunbridge (r), Brophy (r)
Free agents LeCras and Mackenzie signed one-year extensions.
Biggest question marks I guess are over Josh Hill, Sharrod Wellingham and Chris Masten heading into trade week. And it seems we're into Fasolo from Collingwood and Ah Chee from Port, but unsure how legit those whispers are. Can't see how either will contribute to the gaping hole in our midfield either. I don't really want to see another year where Simpson all but concedes the space between the 50m arcs and has a gameplan based on counterattacking after intercept marks in defence (Gov, Yeo, Barrass, Hurn).

Re: AFL Season 2014
Totally agree. Plus it’s fucking cricket time and that joke of a soccer league we have here in Australia. Doesn’t matter, draft period is coming up, then xmas and New Years then we are a short way away from JLT series! Plus we have women’s footy to look forward to (it’s better than nothing I suppose)!guttermouth wrote:Yep....fuck that shit.
