Re: cuphead
I took a look at the videos. Looks amazing. I feel like it's a game I should get for my son as his introduction to videogames. Cutesy in the right way. If the bombs never destroyed the United States in Fallout, this would be the game they'd be playing at some stage in their history.
Will also await reviews.
I watched all of it, it's longish.

Re: cuphead
Picking it up next week. Looks hard, in a 90s kind of way.
Edit - Bought it on GOG.

Re: cuphead
I got it for $20. One word, awesome. It's pretty hard but not unfairly so. Can't stop smiling while playing

Re: cuphead
It's fantastic. Highly recommended, especially for that price.
Be warned, it's hard!

I’m going to pick this up too. Saw my first gameplay video two weeks ago and loved everything I saw. Is there easy mode?

Re: cuphead
Yep there is an easy mode, but you don't get to collect souls of the bosses which i assume you need to complete the game

Subscribe to this guy. He is always on time and reviews fair. Way funnier than that fat nintendo-hating fag Jim Sterling..Candy Arse wrote:I want to but will read a few reviews first.
Jim has gone batshit insane
The only reason you trust this clown is because he gave zeldaBOTW a 7. He is only a entertainer, not a real critic who understands good design.
Recently Divinity original sin2 came out and is getting amazing scores for pushing the CRPG genre forward. I bet this clown is butthurt that it isn't a kid's game so now he is triggered and trying to poke fun at hardcore gamers. This is proof he wants everyone to like dumbed down crap and thinks the rpg games of today like fallout4 are fine as they are IE shooters with RPG mechanics rather than proper rpg games like old school 2D fallout. Yep Jim, we are the crazy ones for liking actual traditional CRPGs like Dragon age Origins with tactics and traditional combat._ Choice is evil.

Re: cuphead
I bought it this morning. I've beat the Carrot boss, a blue blob boss and the Frog boss.
It is hard. It also looks amazing.
I see a lot of loud cursing in my future.

Boys were questioning my use of the left analogue over the D-Pad. I dunno, just for diagonals, just feels more natural. Definitely required for frog bosses.

Re: cuphead
Only a little bit of playtime but done half of world 2. Just doing regular difficulty, funny watching my kids play this, they're getting owned.
I don't know, the levels and game feels short, feels like the difficulty is padding out a short game. Art design is excellent of course, it's mesmerising my kids but they are getting frustrated quick, just think the difficulty will kill the long term mainstream appeal once everyone gets over the art.

Serious? Fuck they’re spastics over there. Anyway, purchased and love it so far. Amazingly beautiful graphics. One of the prettiest games I've ever played.Candy Arse wrote: @ the official thread on NeoGAF, fucking retards getting offended by the 2 girls 1 cup reference.
Re: cuphead
That little blue thing is surely a Sanic reference right?
Anyway had a quick go multiplayer; controllers gave me quite a few issues unfortunately. Mania and now this, man I'm sick of games being so whiny about controllers. In this case, the main problem is that my el cheapo Xbox knockoff fires random Windows commands. I have nfi why and have used the controller for years. So I had to not-use the right bumper to play, as well as position the mouse over something that didn't respond to clicks.
I also had the PS4 controller controlling some controls for both players, which required going into the options and un/re-assigning controllers to fix. After that it ran fine.
Game seems ok though; definitely style is its sales pitch and I won't be surprised if it feels fairly normal once I'm over that. Not that I want it to; I love the style completely. I can't really comment on how it plays much yet due to the controller issues, but I love the parry-to-save-your-teammate feature. Also I'm not sure if the bosses don't get a bit too easy. The first thing we played was the fight against the vegetable, and yep that was straight into it, dying all over the place before we beat him. But once you get used to the pace... dunno. The blue slime and the ghosts were fairly easy in comparison.
Oh, I agree with controller comments I've seen going around: the default controls aren't good. Jump, shoot, and dash aren't easy to hit at once using thumbs nor fingers.

Re: cuphead
Yeah definitely remap the shooting and lock buttons to right trigger and left, this allows your thumbs to freely press jump/dash while still shooting. Makes a big difference, especially since some of the later bosses require a lot of jump->shoot action.
Make sure you get the smoke bomb, suddenly the dash gives you an invincibility window that's quite useful in many occasions.
