What music are you listening to at the mo bro?
Re: What music are you listening to at the mo bro?
This snuck out at the end of March, only just found out about it. Really solid album.

When they die you naturally end up thinking about them and then a song gets stuck in your head. Here's a video I remember from my youth:
... it has an interesting back story.

That's really good and I like it. Both the album this is from and his latest rank pretty well on AllMusic so I'll give them a listen. Also, that song was released in 2014 and he appears to have had a bit of a breakout performance with it on Letterman:
... which isn't that long after Future Islands did the same thing with their synth-pop hilarious yet earnest and beautiful dad dance performance of Seasons (Waiting On You):

It's actually a really good album that one (Singles by Future Islands) once you get over the hurdle of listening to synth-pop laced with goofy melodrama.
I've been listening to the album of the song you posted (Too Bright) as well. It's oroight! Obviously that song is the stand-out, but the rest is also interesting and mostly more laid back. I realise I'm late to the party on these things, but I'm an old codge so discovering things a few years after everyone else is pretty good going for me.

I'm the same. Things find me when they're ready for me, I think. I don't mind being late to the party.

Fuckit, since I'm listening to it again (that's what this thread is for isn't it?) - another one off the same album:

Re: What music are you listening to at the mo bro?
I do, and in all honesty thanks man. I'd heard Seasons on the radio a bunch of times back when it came out and had seen the music video late at night on Rage but never really took much notice other than that it was a good song. But seeing those live performances...sometimes getting a glimpse of what's behind the music can add so much to it, and I'll always have a love for musicians that aren't afraid to mess with the studio versions of their songs, especially on network TV
Will be checking out the album now

I've been listening to Hardwired to Self-Destruct at work all week.
I think it's aged really well. Much better than Metallica's last two albums, at least.
Certainly some of the lyrics are a bit naff, and Hammett just "dials in" too many of his solos, but to me, the album is the natural continuation of their Re/Load development. That's a good thing, as far as I'm concerned.

Hardwired is a great Metallica album, pretty much all songs bar the title track are awesome. I don't hate the title track but it just feels like it would've appealed more to the teenage me back in the day than it does now.
Atlas Rise, Now that We're Dead, Moth, Halo, Revenge and Spit are by far my favorite tracks and not in that order.
