Re: AFL Season 2014
It kind of sucked until it came from 33 points down and kicked six straight to lead in to the last. And then for Gazza to go down and leave us with one left on the bench, to be run over was inevitable.
Gotta say the new Stadium looks awesome. I take it ya been to The MCG Ambrose?? So how does it compare?

Dons looked shithouse on the weekend. That said I knew the Dogs weren’t as bad as their first two rounds. Hoping it’s lag either side of the long haul to Perth.

Re: AFL Season 2014
It's fun exceeding expectations. Five wins in a row now after being beaten by Buddy in Round One.
Big month coming up though. Port, GWS (in Sydney), Richmond, Hawthorn (in Melbourne). Break even over the next month and it's GAME ON!!!

Our main plan could just be to relocate all of Melbourne's list though over a 3 year period lol

Re: AFL Season 2014
Ah Woosha, the complaints in that video are the same as the ones he copped from Eagles fans, especially later in his time at the club.
In the second half of 2006 he completely changed the Eagles gameplan from the number one long kicking side in 2005 (best midfield ever bombing the ball to ... Phil Matera?) to a handball happy run-and-gun side. It started when we flogged Neil Craig's then-unstoppable Crowbots by something like 80 points. It was a stunning game: West Coast 26.9 (165) def. Adelaide 12.11 (83). Adelaide were in the middle of an 8 game streak at the top of the ladder at the time and looked unbeatable. Druggy Thompson gets a lot of credit for coming up with the style at Geelong from 2007 but he openly admits he copied Woosha but was able to implement it with a team that didn't implode.
Also, swing Hunter forward.
And yes, if the Eagles don't appeal I'm done.

I think most clubs will now challenge dodgy reports. That extra week hanging over your head if you fail the appeal is now gone.

Well that's fucked. AFL's argument boiled down to "you're bigger than him" and it was upheld. Absolute bullshit.

Re: AFL Season 2014
This season is fun but God I hope we don't burn out.
They keep pointing to our other great winning streaks in 1999 and 1991 and in 1999 we didn't even make the Grand Final and in 1991 we lost the Grand Final.
Freo and Norf are two other teams that started really well in recent years before stumbling in the second half of the year. Got this persistent feeling we're peaking too early.
But we do have Shuey, Ryan, Venables and Mackenzie to come back. Shuey's our best mid (although Gaff and Yeo are in the discussion now), Ryan and Venables had a great start to their careers (both kicking three goals in a single game at least once, and Ryan already has both mark and goal of the year contenders). Mackenzie hasn't played a game yet. We finally have depth and a flexible gameplan that can change depending on the situation. We can lock things down and grind things out if we have to, but we can also dominate. We seem really fit and the boys have real belief in themselves and the gameplan and there's a real good vibe around the place. Jack Darling is personifying this at the moment, having a monster season.

Re: AFL Season 2014
Positives:
Smashing a second-placed Collingwood at the MCG to end a 23-year hoodoo Last win at the MCG vs Collingwood was in 1995 2/2 at the MCG this year
A successful return for Kennedy (3 goals), Darling (3 goals) and LeCras (2 goals)
Negatives
Nic Nat's knee. FML. Did we win the battle but lose the war?

Yep. Sat through both those schmozzles, we have a simply terrible matchday coach. The setup with 45seconds left made me want to cry ad a Port supporter you could see it coming.
Stay classy sending pics to Gaff like he is a victim though

Re: AFL Season 2014
What an absolutely cracking finals series this promises to be:
First qualifying final
Richmond v Hawthorn at the MCG
90k plus? Sucks it's a Thursday night game though. Can Clarkson conjure some magic?
First elimination final
Melbourne v Geelong at the MCG
Both teams in good form, both clashes this year have been decided by less than a goal
Second elimination final
Sydney v Greater Western Sydney at the SCG
It's a derby
Second qualifying final
West Coast v Collingwood at Optus Stadium

Re: AFL Season 2014
Sucks to be Collingwood. Finish third and your reward is the four hour long-haul to an international time zone.
