Re: PS+/GwG - Super quick wrap up thread
Another month of complete shit on Xbox.
I think it's clear now that GwG is not a focus any more at all.
If there was no Forza Horizon 4 (which I definitely plan to return to), I would absolutely cancel my XBL subscription today. After what, 15 years of loyalty. gg Microsoft. smh.
And Sony have Soma and OnRush.
I finished Soma and it was pretty decent.
OnRush is cool. It's one I was close to buying, so it'll be cool to check it out.
And some indie platformer called Iconoclasts.

Re: PS+/GwG - Super quick wrap up thread
OnRush has been on gamepass for 2 months. There are only so many games developers are willing to practically give away. Which just reinforces my point about MS needing to extend gamepass to include online.
If you don't play online much, it's better to direct your funds towards gamepass instead of games with gold now, the game selection is much better and you get MS first party games day one, next one out is crackdown 3.

Re: PS+/GwG - Super quick wrap up thread
Hmmm. Never really cared about GamePass, but it sounds like I should maybe look into the options.
Can I straight swap from GwG to GamePass for the same price (ish)?
Or is essentially a scam to 'migrate' people across to a more expensive plan?
Wouldn't mind to have a curiosity satisfying look at Sea of Thieves tbh.

Re: PS+/GwG - Super quick wrap up thread
You can't swap, they're different services, they usually have promos, recently there were half price deals to get a year worth for around 70 bucks on amazon for BF.
A few of us took advantage of another deal and I got 2 years of gamepass for $120.
You will just need to let your gold sub lapse and be on the lookout for the deals like I mentioned. I think my gold sub lapses in January, so not sure if I'll resub.

Re: PS+/GwG - Super quick wrap up thread
There's nearly always a $1 for one month GamePass deal. Seems to be available more often than not.
Re: PS+/GwG - Super quick wrap up thread
Sign on for the free trial and then you just wait til you get offered targeted promo's, I got a few months for 1/2 price at the start for a while and then was paying full price until last month I think it was that I randomly had a 1/2 price for 6 months of game pass offer so ended up getting the next six months for about $35. It was an easy decision to make going on to it because I'd have spent 69 - 79 just on Forza 4 at launch and at least bought one or more of the games in their list if I didn't have it which easily covers what I spend on it. Plus I gotta say having kids I'm enjoying being able to throw them something new randomly on weekends that keeps them entertained and saves me buying games they end up not playing. On top of scouring for cheap gold and never paying full price for that I'm probably averaging less than 10 bucks a month for both services which is to me a massive bargain.
Vzzzbx, you lose again!

XBL
Qube2. Boring switch puzzles. And it made me car sick. Deleted.
Dragon Age 2. Meh. Left it on, but I'll likely never come back to it.
PS+
Iconoclasts. I actually got playing it and was enjoying it, but the reality is that it is a fairly standard metroidvania. Left, but I doubt I'll return.
OnRush. Heh. Actually kindof enjoying this. Cheap and nasty fun. Kind of like watching a Adam Sandler film (or Ace Ventura). You can see its crap, but can't help enjoying it anyway. EDIT: After having played it a bit more, it gets boring really fast. The depth of a puddle.
Soma. Didn't bother downloading it. Below is what I wrote in 2016 when I finished it. It was ok.

Again, another one that grabbed my attention from being on a lot of top ten lists. Hmmmmmm.
It's a push forwards / tunnel game with an interesting sci-fi story.
6/10

Never Alone. Went in expecting to completely hate it, but it's actually quite an enjoyable little game. Nice.
Mercenaries. Wow, this is crap. Looking at the meteoritic, people like it. I don't get it. It's horrible. Deleted.
Clearly someone at Microsoft didn't get the memo that Killary didn't win the election therefore we're not neck-deep in a North Korean war in 2018.

Celeste - Meh. I get it. People love these games. I guess they're not old enough to have grown up on such games. It is what it is.
Lara Croft - Good game, but they already gave us this.

Fallen Legion: Flames of rebellion. - Trash. Deleted.
Portal Knights. - Trash. Deleted.
Steep. - I actually have a soft spot for snowboard games. I enjoyed the beta of this, and have considered buying it, so great to see it on PS+. Played it this morning, and I like it a lot. Not so keen on the non-snowboarding events, but I really like all the snowboarding stuff.

WRC6 - Seems like an ok rally game. Left on the drive for a rainy day.
Far Cry 2. I've never played a Far Cry game before, and this seems pretty decent fun.
Well done MS, a solid month to kick off the year.
January is a draw.

For Honor. Ugh. Game is crap. Didn't bother downloading.
Hitman - Complete first season. I acknowledge that people like these games, but ehhhh, stealth games are definitely not my thing, and I have unsuccessfully tried to play Hitman games in the past. Didn't bother downloading.
Rogue Aces. Crap.
Well, that was a truly horrible month for PS+
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Australians being second class citizens, we don't get it - huzzah! Being a MetroidVania, this was probably the game I was most curious about of this months offerings, but whatever hoops necessary to get it from an overseas store is too much bother for me. Not downloaded.
Assassins Creed Rogue. Ehh. A last gen Assassins Creed game. It seemed ok what I played of it.
The back half of GWG looks promising with Bomberman and an acclaimed Star Wars game.

BomberMan - Good fun. I always like a Bomberman that has a decent single player campaign.
Jedi Academy. Wow, this was interesting. It's janky as hell, and the graphics are super "two-gens-ago". But you know what? The game is FUN. I remember days when they used to make tons of fun games like these.
Even without BloodStained, Xbox wins February.
2019 running total.
Xbox 1. Playstation 0.

Modern Warfare. I still have MW2 installed. The Special Ops missions are a good quick bash option when time is tight. 10 years on and it still looks and plays great.

They first two MW games were arguably the best.

Fuck yeah, The Witness. I knew holding out would pay off, fucken finally. Nearly caved on that so many times. Hope it looks lives up to the hype for me.Twiztid Elf wrote:Whoa, this month looks good on both sides.

I was the same until it was on GwG a while back.
I was disappointed with it.
It's good at first, but the difficulty curve ramps up to fucking controller breaking hard really fast.

Re: PS+/GwG - Super quick wrap up thread
I think I paid about $55 for it, worth every cent IMO. One of the best games I've ever played. The very last (I think?) puzzle is ridiculously difficult, I need to get back to that.

Can't play it. 10mins in and I experienced the worst motion sickness I've felt in a game. Haven't felt that since Marathon released on XBLA 11 years ago.

I had that too, thought it was from the high frame rate on PC. Haven't gone back to it but would love to.t0mby wrote:Can't play it. 10mins in and I experienced the worst motion sickness I've felt in a game.
