Well I was originally going to go with Arc or some variant of that, I used to use Archangel (I was a fan of Evangelion so I went with something similar but different) as a nick but shortened it. But those were all taken, so I just joined together one of my favourite games and a play on my first name (Ben + enjo glove things) and it was Samba de Benjo, but I got bored of that and wanted to use Ben instead, but just about all the variants I could think of were gone so I joined another game name and my name for 'we heart ben'.
I kind of got bored of using nicks aswell so I've started just using my first name for nicks instead.

I used every transformer name friggin I could think of I think i even went through a list and none were available, I was shitted off. SO just used my nick off here and whacked year of birth on the end because Froggy was gone aswell.

My Username is Super Mario 82. I choose it because I expected the 360 to be a bucket of shit and a waste of my time, so I wanted a Mario name to stick it to the man online.... Now I love my 360 and my nick is now a gentle reminder to approach everything with an open mind!
In yea olden days when you only had 3 characters to enter on the high score list, I'd enter KAK. Online I'm most frequently unknown as Twit, but that was taken so I combined the two to become KAKwit...which kinda represents being crap and a fuckwit at the same time.
