PSP Drops to $279 AU

Post by OzGamer »

Sony has announced PSP has dropped price to $279 AU.

I think this is the base pack not the big one from launch so not the best drop, but eh it'll do

Still not close to DS though

I'd rather see a drop in the price of the Value Pack, because finding those PSP headphones (with the in-line remote) is relatively difficult and they don't come with the base pack.

Appreciated, but I'm not willing to pay 268 bucks for a PSP at this time :)

Thanks though.

What's with how rare price drops seem to be these days? 360, PSP and DS have all taken ages to come down.

I think Nintendo & Sony like selling the mentioned hardware for a profit.

All the places I saw that had $249.95 PSPs are now charging the new price of $279.95. Awesome!!1!

DS came down in price then back up again when DSL came out. PSP has dropped, what, $50 since September 2005 for the value pack? 360 hasn't had an official drop all year (bundles being the go for all).

Nintendo I can understand, but with somewhat lacklustre sales and a chance to hit Sony where it hurts, Microsoft is in the prime position to cut prices, thank you Mr Smarty Pants.

I'm not certain but I think the value pack comes with a significantly larger memory stick now. Could be wrong though.

I can't see the DS price changing any time soon. I think I'll grab one whenever it does happen though, much as I love the original bulky one I've got now.

Yeah there's a version of the value pack with a 2gb stick. Still $330+ though.

DS could probably have a price increase and not have a drop in sales. Price drop will be a long way away, they've got a new colour coming anyway.

You'd think so but I know people who have no interest in the 360 despite the price. They want a PS3. I really hope that Sony can get the price to $699 by November.

$199 and I am sold. Although... a game with that price would be nice. Also... some games I want besides loco roco would also be nice.

Dusted off the old psp and upgraded it to the latest 3.40 oe. The latest CPS2/neogeo emulator is amazing, the virtual memory stuff isn't a slide show anymore and it's close to full speed 60fps 95% of the time. So you can enjoy all those large rom classics.

psp is awesome.

333mhz mode is gods gift to gaming Lestat.

Not just for godly emulation, but the difference it makes in retail games is astounding (I think it makes the GTA games superior to their PS2 counterparts).
