Well i finally did it and jailbroke and unlocked my iphone today.. i cant believe it took me so long to do it!.. the apps you can now get are amazing.. especially one called tv-out which lets you put the screen on the tv for big screen gaming, what i'd like to know though is, has anyone else here done this? and if so have you found a program or way to transfer images without the need for itunes, as i cant be assed resyncing and losing all my music etc.. i tried copytrans which is decent, but it's a bit pricey.

uhh i jailbroke mine and can still sync with itunes just fine, wtf?

the only benefits i found to jailbreaking were sbsettings and winterboard, everything else was just a bit of fluff, even backgrounder really

Not if you want to use IRC on the iPhone properly, which I do. Aside from that I can't think of any other use for Backgrounder.

But anyway, yeah, I'm not sure what you mean Dj, but I use my jailbroken iPhone with iTunes fine as well.

itunes works fine, just it wants to delete everything i have on my iphone in order to transfer 2 or 3 new images.. as i swapped computers, i've been making do by emailing myself the pics but it's a hassle.
I installed sbssettings but have yet to see what it does, what does it do?
I've been using a interesting app called theXchange, it's a adult chat site, that was originally going to be up on itunes but at the last minute they banned it, it's quite good though, and it's free too. also another jailbreak app called caller id faker is amazing too, you can call your friends but make it look like they're getting a call from anyone you pick great pranks are ahead with that app also used tv-out for the first time, and i'm quite impressed, it does black out the iphone screen which makes things a little confusing, but it's good to put on the tv at friends houses if you wanna show them something, or shake a baby or two

sbsettings => swipe diagonally down from the clock to get to often used settings like brightness (and you can get things for it like a calculator too)

I use IPhoneBrowser to copy stuff to my IPhone all the time. Its drag and drop based, generally works fine.

I jailbroke my brother-in-law's father's iPhone 2G that a friend gave to him. Had to in order to unlock the phone. Pretty trivial process using redsn0w to jailbreak and unlock. Did it all pretty much automatically.

Cydia is so slow and fucking dodgy.
