....and where are we going to store all these downloaded games? I can't see too many of them fitting in that 512MB of onboard storage...

well it looks like there's a fair amount of shithouse shovelware on there, but some of those titles look interesting - some interesting graphical styles being explored, which i quite enjoy.

now rocco, your mario galaxy impressions please

Yes, because the Playstation Store & XBLA don't have any shovelware, right? every single game is a gem, huh?

There are some VERY interesting looking WiiWare titles, including Dr Mario, Final Fantasy: My Life as a King, LostWinds, Pop etc...

But, sure...of course, every single WiiWare title is garbage, but XBLA games like fucking UNO are featured in almost every xbots currently playing gamertag.

Final Fantasy & LostWinds in particular look AMAZING, and have gotten fantastic impressions...

But yes, I understand.....Final Fantasy & LostWinds can never compete with the likes of Worms & UNO!!!

The hypocrisy of so many members of this forum is astounding!

Many of them look like we have played them before. Not interested in so many puzzlers either. The Spogs racing game looks horrible.

World of Goo is interesting to see there, because I played an early concept demo of that years ago and I'm wondering if that programmer scored himself a deal with it.

Pop look interesting and nice.

FF CC looks okay, and like the only serious game there, but irritating with that colour changing business in the text. Makes me feel like I'm a foreigner and people are yelling to try and make me understand.

These could be good but this thread has far too many images and videos to really see the stand out games.

The stand out games from the launch titles are without a doubt...

* Dr Mario (wifi puzzle title)

* Final Fantasy: My Life as a King (RPG/God game - downloadable content to make your kingdom even more impressive)

* Pop (multiplayer puzzle)

* LostWinds (platformer/adventure title, control the wind with wiimote)

* Star Soldier R (futuristic scrolling shoot'em-up game).

BTW, LostWinds is the first WiiWare game IGN have reviewed, and Matt LOVED it, and gave it an 8.2/10...

The developers are already working on a sequel..

I'm gonna post the damn youtube trailer one more time...I urge you all to check it out......it's beautiful, and using the wiimote to control the wind...it looks so unique and amazing.

And the great thing, it costs like $12 or $15 aussie bucks.

I don't think Dr. Mario is standing out in anyone's mind...

Defend Your Castle looks mad in motion.

Image

I was a little thrown by the screens, but when you see it rolling, wow, it looks great.

I think your stand outs are gonig to be World Of Goo, LostWinds, and FFCC Life As King.

Also, I wish Rocco hadn't of started this thread, because anyone who replies to it isn't here to discuss WiiWare, or what looks be a really interesting bunch of titles, but purely to bait Rocco.

:(

Real thread will probably start in the Wii section soon.

Too bad you will only ever be able to fit one or two on the Wii memory.

Oh, and FFCC is basically a DLC rape sim, where you basically have to buy everything in the game. Kind of like EA charging for ammo in battlefield bad company or whatever it was. My bet is they'll outdo Scamco's DLC for Ace Combat and Katamari for rip-off value

I will get "Lost Winds" and apparently "Defend Your Castle" since Bruce has shown interest.

Star Soldier R interests me, but if it doesn't have a high difficulty (which I doubt) I won't get it.

Some of these games are looking decent and are using the control method as good rather than a gimmick. Hopefully smaller publishers will be able to get a dollar out of this.

However, the memory situation on the Wii is disgraceful, and this will make it worse. They need to fix it- allow users to load games off an SD card, even if you have to make a proprietary disk format to protect it. On top of that, make the card readers SDHC compliant.

This is where I see old school games that won't sell on retail shelves being available. Where are some clones to geometry wars?

Where are the monkey island type, point and click adventures?
